Reflection-December
This pastel painting was inspired by a location close to home. It is a large 36x24 inch painting perfect for a statement painting where a calm atmosphere is desired. I was particularly fascinated with the shadows of unseen trees being cast on the snow and the reflections in the water. This painting is framed in a silver-leaf wide wooden transitional frame using museum glass which is the best framing glass you can buy. It has virtually no reflection and a U/V protection.

River Rance Memory
Sold out
While completing a one-month residency in Dinan, France, I was fortunate to live along the Rance River. Every morning or afternoon, depending on the weather, I walked that river, becoming ever more familiar with the twists and turns of the waterway. I gained a great deal of comfort and peace from the experience, that I carry with me today. This painting is framed in a wide wooden silver-leaf frame with museum glass which is the finest glass available. There is virtually no reflection and the glass has a U/V protection.

Scottish Mist

Scotland is a landscape lover's paradise. While traveling to Glasgow to return to the US, this scene sped by my car window. I snapped a photograph, and this painting was the result. This pastel painting is framed in a wide silver-leaf wooden frame using museum glass which is the finest glass available. Museum glass has virtually no reflection and a U/V protection.

Shadow Play
I was fascinated with the tree growing in such a precarious way, and the shadows that that same tree cast on the pathway. The shadows reminded me a bit of spokes from a bicycle. This pastel painting is framed in a wide, silver-leaf wooden frame using museum glass which is the best glass available. Museum glass has virtually no reflection and a U/V protection.

Solitary One
Sold out
One of my favorite birds is the great blue heron. Often while I am out and about and end up seeing a heron, I don't see it immediately. I will be looking at a beautiful scene, and realize that a heron is stalking its next meal, motionless. This painting captures the silent calm that they seem to have when waiting for prey. The piece is framed in a wide, silver-leaf wooden frame which has museum glass protecting the art. Museum glass has virtually no reflection and a U/V protection.

Tattered Draperies
Spanish moss is simply fascinating. When it is hanging from branches of trees is seems to look like the tattered draperies in an old abandoned home to me. Quite beautiful! This pastel painting is framed with a wide, silver-leaf wooden frame with museum glass which is virtually reflection free and also has a U/V protection.

Where I Once Walked
Sold out
In 2011, I was fortunate enough to enjoy a one-month artist residency in Dinan, France. Dinan is a medieval city with cobbled streets and half-timber buildings. At first I was concerned that I wouldn't find landscape material to paint, and would have to paint those medieval dwellings. I should have had no fear. The landscape near my home was great inspiration for me, as I walked along the river almost every day. The experience was one of the best of my life, and painting the River Rance always transports me back to that time and place. Sigh.

Lavender
Sold out
What is more beautiful than a field of lavender? The fragrance alone can calm the nerves. A beautiful sunny day with a field of lavender is a blessing. This acrylic painting is on an antique book, but not just any book. The book in question is "On Drawing and Painting Trees," by Adrian Hill. The pages are filled with wonderful insight into the beauty of capturing trees in art. There are color plates throughout as well as black and white illustrations. This painting is perfect on a display easel, or you may hang the book on the wall with a special hand-painted rack.
