She enjoys nothing more than to push the landscape subject while using acrylic, pastel, or oil paint. All of this knowledge will be incorporated during any workshop or class taught by Lynn. Weekly Class SchedulePastel Painting (Weekly Classes at the Workhouse Arts Center in Lorton, VA)
When: Wednesday, March 18, 10 am-12:30 pm (FILLED) First Class begins on Wednesday, September 18 This class meets weekly for 8 weeks This class will include various approaches to the soft pastel medium to help encourage students to develop their personal style. Several techniques will be explored to complete pastel paintings for a deeper understanding of this versatile medium. Fundamentals of design, composition and color will be discussed. Students will use their own resource materials to compose paintings. Instruction will be provided to determine how best to complete a painting with photographic resource material. Appropriate for students of all levels with drawing experience. (Beginners should bring drawing materials, intermediate and advanced students should bring their pastel supplies to the first class.) Weekend WorkshopsSolvent Free Oil Painting — Water-Mixable Oil Explorations (2-day workshop)
When: Saturday and Sunday, July 18 and 19 (10am-4pm) Ever heard of water mixable oil paint? It’s a great way to enjoy all the beauty of painting with oils without toxic materials. In this 2-day workshop, you will get an overview of this wonderful medium. Students will provide their own photographic reference materials to compose a painting. Color, composition, design, value, light patterns, atmospheric perspective, and underpainting techniques will be discussed as will the qualities of specific brands of water mixable paint. This workshop is appropriate for beginners to advanced students with some drawing experience who are looking to expand and understand how water mixable oil paint works. Pastel Painting— Surface Explorations & More (2-Day Workshop)
When: Saturday and Sunday, August 15 and 16 (10am-4pm) Pastel is a wonderful, expressive medium. In this two-day workshop, you will learn the different qualities of papers that may be used to make beautiful pastel paintings. We will even make our own textured surface on which to work. Working from your photographs (or those provided) you will learn the basics of pastel painting. For more experienced students, you will learn how to improve your paintings. Composition, color use, value understanding, and framing will be covered in this comprehensive 2-day workshop. A supply list will be sent to you when you register.
