Echoes in the Canopy
Birds have brought me comfort for as long as I can remember. It's a bit surprising that they haven't made an appearance in my paintings until this year. This painting, "Echoes in the Canopy" gives a nod to the beautiful birdsong that is available to us whenever we venture into the woods.
Acrylic painting size: 36"x36," on wooden cradle panel, ready to hang
Universal Joy
AVAILABLE AT THE ZEBRA GALLERY
This painting includes birds in flight. I just started including birds in my paintings this year. They don't swoop in for every painting, but I like to include them because birds simply make me happy. I love hearing them, watching them at our bird feeder, and witnessing them darting in and out of the trees.
Acrylic painting size: "Universal Joy," 24"x24," acrylic on wooden cradle panel, wired and ready for display.
Forgotten Stories
AVAILABLE AT THE ZEBRA GALLERY
Somehow, when I think about all the time that I have spent in nature, and have enjoyed observing nature, I am still surprised at the way that images simply appear while I am painting.
This painting, “Echoes of the Past,” started with a painting of trees in mind. However, the painting had other plans, and this landscape presented itself. I simply went with it. Ultimately, I realized upon completion that the appearance of this painting transports me back to my upbringing where I spent countless hours among the trees.

Painting is magical. Sometimes when I am painting, things appear and I have no idea how it happens. I have had hearts show up in my work unexpectedly in the past. In the case of this painting, a bird flew into the composition, and I let it remain. What a fun thing to be able to experience!

Organic Flow
This morning when walking in the forest with a friend, she stopped an exclaimed, "This is beautiful, and I can see your paintings in it." I was moved because we were in one of my favorite spots along the path, and in an area that has inspired me over and over again.

Leaf Constellations
Being among the trees is where I feel most at home—where inspiration flows freely, and creativity takes root.
This abstract landscape captures that connection, weaving together rich jewel tones that evoke both mystery and warmth. While the deep, moody hues suggest introspection, the intricate interconnection of each tree serves as a powerful reminder: we are all connected. This piece is designed to instill a sense of peace and hope, even in life’s more challenging moments. I hope this artwork will bring the grounding presence of nature into your space, a daily reflection of resilience, unity, and beauty.

Courageous Perserverance
Mountains don't only represent my personal history, they also speak to constancy and perseverance. This painting evokes both to me. The colors are a bit different from my usual palette, and I love the end result.

Family Tie
There is a fusion of non-objective abstract and natural landscapes in this acrylic piece. I love the graphic quality of this painting and the hidden treasure when viewed up close, including a delicate collage featuring a sepia-toned photographic portrait of my mother-in-law. For me, it is important for my paintings to create a desire to look closer, I like to reward the curious with surprising elements only visible upon more inspection.

Invitation to the Dance
After studying ballet for close to 40 years, I often see trees as dancing figures which explains the title of this piece. While going on walks, I often marvel at the trees swaying in the breeze, and the dancing rhythms of the branches. This sentiment goes back decades to when I used to sit on the rocks, with a sketchbook or journal in hand, under the trees at the end of the street of my childhood home.
Acrylic on canvas painting size: 36"x48" on gallery wrap canvas with white sides.
Sparkling Through
Sparkling Through was painted in reaction to spending time in the trees. I love the feeling that I get when the sun comes through the leaves and branches. There is something magical about the way that the leaves seem to sparkle in the sun. This painting was made in oil and cold wax medium and is painted on a wooden cradle panel ready to hang.

Travels Through Time
Travels through time started as a non-objective abstract, ant turned into the mountains of my memory. Most people don't know that I worked in an antique Japanese woodblock print gallery in my 20s. That experience inspired me, and continues to do so as I see an influence of Asian art when I look at this painting.
Acrylic painting size: 12"x12" on wooden cradle panel, ready to hang or place on a table or shelf.
Insistence on Individuality
Sold out
"Insistence on Individuality," shows my fascination with vibrant energy and dynamic forms. My goal was to incorporate an interplay of shapes and colors to create a sense of depth and movement, drawing you into a dance of light and shadow. Perhaps this is due to my classical ballet training and background.
The composition balances fluidity with structure, evoking an exploration of identity amid unity. My goal is that the painting invites contemplation, offering both visual delight and a reflection on individuality within uniformity.

This is another example of art that came about when I decided it was time to paint over an older painting. I LOVE doing that. Visitors to my studio are always shocked because they have often liked the older painting. Most of the time I still like the older painting as well, but it is time for me to let it go. This is because my work has led me in another direction. There is a freedom in making a decision, and just going for it, painting with abandon over a previous piece.

Flower Explosion
On a beautiful September morning I went to visit a fellow artist friend to paint in her backyard. I was struck by a planter that she had on her patio, and immediately got to work. Flower Explosion is the result of the pleasant time that we had together painting, chatting, and listening to music. A perfect morning, for sure.

Let the Future In
Another painting that evokes spring to me. Somehow this painting reminds me of early spring when the trees start to flower. This painting is an example of my more abstracted style. I am happy letting it be exactly what it is! The painting is framed in a wide black wooden frame. Styled image is an example of how the artwork would look framed.

Intractable Wildness
After finding a painting that I did ten years ago, I realized that I wanted to make it brand new. I set out to paint something that was more in line with the style of work that I have been making recently. I began by wildly painting away, hence the title of this art. This oil painting is done on a cradle panel and is ready to hang in your home or office space to brighten your day.

A Different Flower
I rarely paint flowers and I didn't set out to paint flowering trees when I started this painting, but flowering trees wanted to be painted! This acrylic painting was so much fun to create. There are layers and layers of color on this panel and it is wonderful to see them coming through the piece. Styled image is an example of how the artwork would look framed.

Buoyed by Memories
This acrylic painting feels fun and lively to me. I painted it in an effort to make peace with the color pink, which is a color that I rarely use. I began recognizing that whenever I had pink incorporated in a painting, I painted over it. The challenge was on! I was determined to use pink and enjoy the process. It worked!

Charting Your Own Passions
"Charting Your Own Passion" (20"x20") is a reflection of what nature gives back—space to connect, remember, and feel deeply.
In this painting, I've poured memories of the mountains of my childhood, of feeling grounded yet free. There are obscured collage elements that can be seen when you get closer to the piece. It's like a treasure hunt and peeling the layers of memories that we all hold dear.
Being out in nature always stirs up the love and belonging I felt growing up, and the echoes of music and laughter that have stayed with me. I hope this piece resonates with anyone who seeks a reminder of their roots, passions, and those simple moments that linger in the heart.

Incandescently Aware
Inspired by a visit to the Spirited Garden on Jeju Island, this piece encapsulates nature's splendor and resilience, but also the distinctly human response to something that reaches our souls. I was often moved to tears as I walked along the paths of this incredible garden, knowing that I would have to make a series of paintings that evoked the experience of being in this magical place. By incorporating collage elements, I wanted to symbolize both the time it took for the garden to flourish and the layers of personal history that shape our emotional experiences.
Inspired by the garden’s creator and his unwavering vision, I aimed to capture the essence of his dedication and the profound impact of nature’s serenity and vigor.
This abstract acrylic and collage painting, composed of two vibrant 20"x20" panels totaling 20"x41", is rich in texture, capturing both time's passage and human complexity. It was created on wooden cradle panels and is ready to hang.

Creating this artwork was an exploratory process. The mix of acrylic, acrylic inks, and collage adds unique textures and layers. The artwork includes dense, dark areas alongside lighter spaces, creating a sense of constant motion. Expressive overlay the brushstrokes, making for an energetic feel and prompting varied interpretations.
Inspired by an internal unease that I was experiencing as I was painting, and the bonsai trees of the Spirited Garden in Jeju Island, South Korea whose memory gave me comfort, "And Then...." represents both tranquility and turmoil. Tools such as trowels, sandpaper, and silicone bowl scrapers add unique marks and textures, showcasing the resilience of the human spirit and the beauty of transformation.

Same Sky, Different World
I wanted this painting to serve as a reminder of our shared human experiences under the same sky, yet often in vastly different worlds. Through art, I hope to touch hearts and inspire resilience, showing that even in moments of deep emotion, there's a path to creating something meaningful and beautiful.

Moment in Childhood
When I have a painting that simply doesn't want to work, I don't fret (for long😉), instead I paint over it. This painting is an example of just that. I love the rough quality of this painting, and the way that it evokes the snow-covered afternoons of my youth.
I have a specific memory with my mother, and for some reason, that comes to mind when I look at this piece. My sister was working in an office not far from our home. It had been snowy and it was well after dark when she was to get off of work. Not wanting her to walk home alone in the snow and ice, my mother and I met her, and the three of us walked home together. It was then that my mother shared with me that she loved the sound of the snow crunching underfoot. I think of this experience whenever I hear that familiar sound. This painting was made on a cradle panel and is ready to hang in your home or office.

This 20"x20" acrylic painting on a wooden cradle panel represents a journey of exploration. Almost all of my work is inspired by nature, time, and personal history. This piece is no exception. Hearts on Fire
Designer Tip: Collectors have asked how I would recommend displaying this painting. Although it is ready to hang given the nature of the gallery wrapped canvas, for a contemporary decor, some people prefer the appearance of a frame. I would recommend a "floating" type of frame in a color that matches your decor if this is your preference.
