Early Spring
This painting, inspired by my impressions of a beautiful spring day, makes me think of the gauzy tree leaves starting to sprout along with delicate seasonal flowers.
This 12"x12" acrylic on canvas board panel is all ready for you to frame in a color of your choice. The examples provided here will give you an idea of how beautiful the painting will work in a living setting.
Leaf Constellations
Being among the trees is where I feel most at home—where inspiration flows freely, and creativity takes root. This abstract landscape captures that connection, weaving together rich jewel tones that evoke both mystery and warmth. While the deep, moody hues suggest introspection, the intricate interconnection of each tree serves as a powerful reminder: we are all connected. This piece is designed to instill a sense of peace and hope, even in life’s more challenging moments. I hope this artwork will bring the grounding presence of nature into your space, a daily reflection of resilience, unity, and beauty.

Insistence on Individuality
"Insistence on Individuality," shows my fascination with vibrant energy and dynamic forms. My goal was to incorporate an interplay of shapes and colors to create a sense of depth and movement, drawing you into a dance of light and shadow. Perhaps this is due to my classical ballet training and background.
The composition balances fluidity with structure, evoking an exploration of identity amid unity. My goal is that the painting invites contemplation, offering both visual delight and a reflection on individuality within uniformity.
We Walk Together
This is another example of a painting that I made with no idea how wonderful it would look with another recently created piece entitled, "I Walk Enchanted." This 12"x12" acrylic painting is framed in a white floater frame. The images show how you might choose to frame the artwork if white doesn't work for your decor.

I have been reading the classic novel “Rebecca” by Daphne du Maurier. In it, the author describes the English landscape in great visual detail. I think this painting was somewhat influenced by her words.
Honestly, I am not sure where this painting came from, and I love when something intuitive occurs like this. This acrylic painting is 12"x12" and was painted on a wooden panel. It is framed and ready to hang with a white, floater frame. The photos are examples of the piece framed in a gray frame.

Invitation to the Dance
AVAILABLE AT THE ZEBRA GALLERY
This painting (36"x48," acrylic on canvas) was shear joy to work on. There are many layers of paint incorporated in this piece, which provided endless pleasure to manipulate and also creates visual interest from a distance and when you move closer to view the painting.
After studying ballet for close to 40 years, I often see trees as dancing figures which explains the title of this piece. While going on walks, I often marvel at the trees swaying in the breeze, and the dancing rhythms of the branches. This sentiment goes back decades to when I used to sit on the rocks, with a sketchbook or journal in hand, under the trees at the end of the street of my childhood home.

Unscheduled Rhythms

This is another example of art that came about when I decided it was time to paint over an older painting. I LOVE doing that. Visitors to my studio are always shocked because they have often liked the older painting. Most of the time I still like the older painting as well, but it is time for me to let it go. This is because my work has led me in another direction. There is a freedom in making a decision, and just going for it, painting with abandon over a previous piece.

Follow the Light #2
This is one in a series of pieces that I have been working on recently, and would look wonderful paired with Follow the Light#1. I started this painting in oil and cold wax medium which imparts a lovely textural surface. This texture helps evoke the feelings that I have when I experience the light and texture that surrounds me while walking in the woods. This painting is framed in a white frame. .

This is a long description:
About a month ago, a cute four year old skipped into my studio followed by her grandmother. There was something in the little girl's impish grin that moved me, and I struck up a conversation by complimenting her on her pink eyeglasses. She then shared with me what interested her at that moment, which was her new dress. Immediately, I mentioned that I liked the horses on her dress, and she responded (in no uncertain terms) that the dress was instead covered in unicorns, I knew that a bond was formed.
She expressed great interest in how I made my paintings, and I enjoy nothing more than talking about making art. So, I talked with her about how I work, the paint that I use, and the colors I like, while finding out about what interested her as well.
As time progressed, she noticed my Posca acrylic pens, and she asked me about them. She had a tough time containing her excitement as I pulled out each colorful pen that she pointed to, and scribbled on a painting panel that was at her eye-level to view.
Once she and her grandmother left the studio, I took a look at the panel and smiled. It was at that point that I saw that my free flowing, fun PLAY with a four year old visitor was the perfect start for the painting above.
Just goes to show you. You never know when inspiration will strike. Sometimes it may come bounding into the room wearing pink glasses and a unicorn dress.

Flower Explosion
On a beautiful September morning I went to visit a fellow artist friend to paint in her backyard. I was struck by a planter that she had on her patio, and immediately got to work. Flower Explosion is the result of the pleasant time that we had together painting, chatting, and listening to music. A perfect morning, for sure.

Intractable Wildness
THIS PAINTING IS AVAILABLE AT PRINCIPLE GALLERY, ALEXANDRIA, VA
After finding a painting that I did ten years ago, I realized that I wanted to make it brand new. I set out to paint something that was more in line with the style of work that I have been working on recently. I began by wildly painting away, hence the title of the painting. This oil painting is done on a cradle panel and is ready to hang in your home or office space to brighten your day.

Sparkling Through
Sparkling Through was painted in reaction to spending time in the trees. I love the feeling that I get when the sun comes through the leaves and branches. There is something magical about the way that the leaves seem to sparkle in the sun. This painting was made in oil and cold wax medium and is painted on a wooden cradle panel ready to hang.

A Different Flower
I rarely paint flowers and I didn't set out to paint flowering trees when I started this painting, but flowering trees wanted to be painted! This acrylic painting was so much fun to create. Buoyed by Memories
This acrylic painting feels fun and lively to me. I painted it in an effort to make peace with the color pink, which is a color that I rarely use. I began recognizing that whenever I had pink incorporated in a painting, I painted over it. The challenge was on! I was determined to use pink and enjoy the process. It worked!

Charting Your Own Passions
"Charting Your Own Passion" (20"x20") is a reflection of what nature gives back—space to connect, remember, and feel deeply.
In this painting, I've poured memories of the mountains of my childhood, of feeling grounded yet free. There are obscured collage elements that can be seen when you get closer to the piece. It's like a treasure hunt and peeling the layers of memories that we all hold dear.
Being out in nature always stirs up the love and belonging I felt growing up, and the echoes of music and laughter that have stayed with me. I hope this piece resonates with anyone who seeks a reminder of their roots, passions, and those simple moments that linger in the heart.

A Pleat in Time
"A Pleat in Time" is a captivating abstract painting, measuring 20x20 inches, crafted with acrylic and collage on a wooden cradle panel. Dynamic brush strokes in shades of turquoise and blue diagonally sweep across the piece, creating a serene yet energizing flow. Interspersed accents of black, white, magenta, and green add contrast, depth, and a touch of mystery.
The use of collage materials introduces an additional dimension, evoking the intricate passage of time. The muted background hues allow the vibrant colors to stand out boldly. Abstract forms within the composition suggest natural landscapes, reminiscent of rolling waves or sweeping vistas, and invite personal interpretation.
Inspired by an emotionally profound visit to a garden with over 400 bonsai trees, this artwork emanates awe and contemplation. "A Pleat in Time" invites viewers to pause, reflect, and appreciate life's fleeting moments, offering a profoundly uplifting and inspirational experience.
Acrylic Painting Size: 20"x20" ready to hang
Incandescently Aware
Inspired by a visit to the Spirited Garden on Jeju Island, this piece encapsulates nature's splendor and resilience, but also the distinctly human response to something that reaches our souls. I was often moved to tears as I walked along the paths of this incredible garden, knowing that I would have to make a series of paintings that evoked the experience of being in this magical place. By incorporating collage elements, I wanted to symbolize both the time it took for the garden to flourish and the layers of personal history that shape our emotional experiences.
Inspired by the garden’s creator and his unwavering vision, I aimed to capture the essence of his dedication and the profound impact of nature’s serenity and vigor.
This abstract acrylic and collage painting, composed of two vibrant 20"x20" panels totaling 20"x41", is rich in texture, capturing both time's passage and human complexity. It was created on wooden cradle panels and is ready to hang.
And Then...
This 12"x12" acrylic painting on a wooden cradle panel invites you into a world where colors and emotions collide.
The artwork includes dense, dark areas alongside lighter spaces, creating a sense of constant motion. Expressive overlay the brushstrokes, making for an energetic feel and prompting varied interpretations.
Inspired by an internal unease that I was experiencing as I was painting, and the bonsai trees of the Spirited Garden in Jeju Island, South Korea whose memory gave me comfort, "And Then...." represents both tranquility and turmoil. Tools such as trowels, sandpaper, and silicone bowl scrapers add unique marks and textures, showcasing the resilience of the human spirit and the beauty of transformation.
Acrylic painting size: 12"x12" on wooden cradle panel, ready to hang.
Same Sky, Different World
I wanted this painting to serve as a reminder of our shared human experiences under the same sky, yet often in vastly different worlds. Through art, I hope to touch hearts and inspire resilience, showing that even in moments of deep emotion, there's a path to creating something meaningful and beautiful.

Moment in Childhood
AVAILABLE AT THE ZEBRA GALLERY
When I have a painting that simply doesn't want to work, I don't fret (for long😉), instead I paint over it. This painting is an example of just that. I love the rough quality of this painting, and the way that it evokes the snow-covered afternoons of my youth.
I have a specific memory with my mother, and for some reason, that comes to mind when I look at this piece. My sister was working in an office not far from our home. It had been snowy and it was well after dark when she was to get off of work. Not wanting her to walk home alone in the snow and ice, my mother and I met her, and the three of us walked home together. It was then that my mother shared with me that she loved the sound of the snow crunching underfoot. I think of this experience whenever I hear that familiar sound. This painting was made on a cradle panel and is ready to hang in your home or office.
