Why Installation Art?

I am primarily a landscape painter. That said, I do enjoy forcing myself out of my comfort zone to work on something artistically demanding. Installation art does that. Working on an installation that explores my roots as a Jewish American is important to me. I am able to communicate in ways that is nearly impossible in my other artistic endeavors. It's a kick in the pants that usually requires about 6 months of thought and work. So, I do these pieces only about every other year to take a break from my usual routine. It's fun, and it is like a palate cleanser for my soul.
